Lock times

Easy Access entry times at Port Solent, Chichester and Southsea Marinas

Three of the marinas in the Premier Group have locks, Chichester, Port Solent and Sovereign Harbour, Eastbourne; all of which are in operation 24 hours a day. In addition Southsea Marina has a cill gate which opens and closes automatically at certain states of the tide.

We have included on this page some downloadable files which give the free flow times for the Locks at Chichester and Port Solent and also one which gives the times of the cill gate opening and closing at Southsea.

For further details you can click onto the locking procedures pages for each marina under visitor information and locking.

Free flow times at Port Solent Marina

To avoid the queue download the tide table below which also shows free flow times for Port Solent Marina.

Sovereign Harbour Locks

Sovereign Harbour does not operate free flow, but has two 50m locks which operate 24 hours a day, closing on the hour and half hour.

The locking procedure is very straight forward and we recommend that you monitor VHF channel 17, follow the lock traffic signals and when busy, take directions from the lock-keeper or lock-packer.

Always move as far forward into the lock as possible, with fenders on both sides of your vessel and mooring lines on deck.

Cill Gate Opening Times

The cill gate at Southsea Marina is open for approximately 3 hours either side of high water. Download Southsea's tide table below which also show the Cill Gate opening and closing times.
